AUBURN, Ala (EETV) - After a historical season, an impressive March Madness run, and the program's first-ever Final Four appearance, the Auburn Basketball team will begin the upcoming season ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
This is the sixth time the Auburn Tigers have been ranked in the preseason top 25 in program history and the second time in back-to-back seasons. Last year the Tigers started the season at No.11.
The last time the Tigers had consecutive preseason rankings was the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons where they were ranked No. 10 and No. 12.
Auburn is also picked to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference, behind Kentucky, Florida, and LSU. This predicted fourth-place finish is the third-highest projection for Auburn since 2000.
Out of the teams in the Top 25 AP poll, Auburn is set to play three of them in the regular season, Florida, Kentucky, and LSU.
The Tigers will begin their season against Georgia Southern Nov. 5 in Auburn Arena. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcasted on SEC Network and Auburn Sports Network.
