AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - After a cancellation due to weather last year, Tipoff at Toomer's will be held on Thursday night in downtown Auburn.
Auburn basketball is participating in the unprecedented event celebrate the historic run to the 2019 Final Four and prepare for the upcoming season. It will feature men's basketball head coach Bruce Pearl, women's basketball head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy and the 2019-20 teams.
The event is free and open to the public, but it is a first-come, first-serve, standing room only event. Tipoff at Toomer's will take place on a basketball court at Toomer's Corner, the corner of College St. and Magnolia Ave.
The festivities begin at 4 p.m. with the Downtown Merchants Entertainment District and Samford Lawn Fan Fest. Fans are encouraged to visit local businesses throughout the event.
At 6 p.m., Tiger Talk will broadcast live on the court and the Jungle "pit" area will open. The first 300 students will receive a free t-shirt, courtesy of Coca-Cola.
Tipoff at Toomer's begins at 7 p.m. Both basketball teams will be brought on the court for introductions. There will be a men's and women's 3-point contest, 3-on-3 challenge and dunk contest.
After the contests and challenge, there will be an autograph session and opportunity for fans to meet the teams.
W Magnolia Ave. at Wright St., S College St. at Thach Ave., E Magnolia Ave. at Gay St. and N College St. at Tichenor Ave will close at 4 a.m. on Thursday morning.
There will not be any transit options. Fans are encouraged to park in the RBD Library Parking Deck, Comer lot, South College (Hotel) Parking Deck – Levels 2 & 3, Cambridge lot, Tiger Rags lot and the lots behind OD Smith & Ingram Hall. Additional parking is available in Public Safety, Arena, and Coliseum lots.
Auburn University, Auburn Athletics and the City of Auburn partnered to present Tipoff at Toomer's. Melt Agency is assisting with logistics.
