Auburn Defense Stifles Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark(EETV)- Auburn went into Fayetteville and put on quite a preformance as they won by a final of 51-10. The Tigers defense was the star of the show as they held Arkansas to just 52 yards on the ground with four turnovers.

From the opening drive, the defense made things difficult for Arkansas quarterback Ben Hicks as Marlon Davidson forced a fumble which set up Auburn's first touchdown with a four yard run from Bo Nix.

The offense would get in the end zone again as Shaun Shivers scored from six yards out to put the Tigers up 14-0. Anders Carlson would add a field goal before halftime as Auburn would lead 17-0 at the break.

Arkansas would score the first points of the second half with a field goal from Connor Limpert, but Auburn would score two touchdowns in quick sucession as Nix found Anthony Schwartz and Seth Williams on deep passes.

After the Williams catch, Anders Carlson would break a record for consecutive extra points made in the NCAA with 303. That dated back to 2013 when Cody Parkey missed an extra point against Tennessee.

Nix found Seth Williams for another touchdown as the Tigers extended the lead to 37-10. After just breaking the PAT record, Anders Carlson would miss the point after to halt the streak at 303.

Joey Gatewood would add a passing touchdown of his own as he found Jay Jay Wilson for his first touchdown as an Auburn Tiger. Harold Joiner would also have a 32 yard touchdown run as the Tigers would cruise to their sixth win of the season.

The offense had a much improved game as Bo Nix threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns including one on the ground. The rushing attack racked up 298 yards on the ground. Leading the way was Cam Martin who had ten rushes for 84 yards.

The win gave the Tigers a four game winning streak which is the longest of any team in the series. Next up for Auburn will be the LSU Tigers next Saturday. Kickoff will be at 2:30 with the game to be seen on CBS.
