Auburn, AL(EETV)- Auburn basketball took street ball to a whole new level as the men's and women's teams took to the court in front of a packed crowd at Toomer's Corner. Fans were able to take part in a number of fan events downtown leading up to the event which helped showcase the downtown businesses.
Stores started opening up at 4pm as they had special discounts for those attending the evening entertainment. Discounts included food and drink specials at local restruraunts and bars as well as clothing and merchandise.
The main event that Tiger Fans had been waiting for came at 7pm as both basketball teams arrived to meet the fans. Although both teams had many fresh faces, fans got to see veterans such as Robyn Benton, Samir Doughty, Unique Thompson, Danjel Purifoy, and Austin Wiley to name a few.
Both teams would compete in different challenges to showcase which showed fans a preview of what was to come for both teams this season.
Coach Pearl spoke after the game saying," I'm grateful to the fans for showing up, we wanted to celebrate with them at a place that means so much to the Auburn family."
Both teams open the 2019-2020 season in two weeks as the men take on Georgia Southern and the women play Wofford. For more coverage on tonight's events see the videos below.
