AUBURN, Ala (EETV) Auburn University is hosting Tipoff at Toomer's on Oct. 17 and Orchestra at the Oaks on Oct. 18. These events will cause downtown streets to close.
Tipoff at Toomer's, taking place on Thursday, Oct. 17, is a basketball event including men's basketball head coach Bruce Pearl, women's basketball head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy and 2019-20 basketball teams. The festivals at Toomers will start at 4 p.m., with the main event beginning at 7 p.m. Because of this event, College Street will be closed from Tichenor to Thatch avenues, and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from Wright and Gay streets. These closures will occur from 4 a.m. on Thursday until midnight.
The second event this week is Orchestra at the Oaks, on Friday, Oct. 18. This event, beginning at 6 p.m. is hosted by the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center and Downtown Merchant Association. Orchestra at the Oaks will feature the Auburn Community Orchestra. The orchestra will play on the Tiger's Paw at Toomer's Corner resulting in College Street and Magnolia Avenue closures. College Street will be closed from Tichenor to Thatch avenues and Magnolia Avenue will be closed from Wright and Gay streets. In the event of inclement weather, Orchestra at the Oaks will be moved to Goodwin Hall.
For these events parking will be available throughout downtown at the Gay Street Parking Lot, RBD Library, Auburn Bank (after 6 p.m.), Auburn United Methodist Church, Anders Bookstore (after 6 p.m.), the Wesley Foundation, the Comer Lot, the East Glenn Avenue Park Lot, Felton Little Park and the Auburn Parks and Recreation complex on Opelika Road.
