Auburn, AL (EETV)- Auburn opened up the new campaign as they defeated Echerd 97-53. The Tigers used their high-flying offense as familar faces such as Samir Doughty and J'von McCormick led the way.
Auburn came into the game with many new faces that would fill the roles that were left by last year's team. One player who stood out was Devan Cambridge as he scored eleven points in the contest. Isaac Okoro held his own defensively as he had two steals, two blocks, and forced two turnovers.
Auburn's defense was solid as they scored 25 points off turnovers but turned the ball over 22 times on offense. The Tigers struggled in the second half as their play became sloppy at times.
Coach Pearl spoke about the second half saying,"We just didn’t play with much effort and energy. We probably try to keep it fairly simple and try and work on some basic things."
The leading scorer tonight was J'von McCormick who had 20 points. Samir Doughty and Danjel Purifoy both scored 14 points in the game as they continue to be the leaders of the team.
Auburn will open up the regular season with Georgia Southern on Tuesday night at 8pm with the game to be televised on SEC Network.
