Auburn, AL (EETV)- Auburn's historic run continues as they beat the Lipscomb Bison 86-59 on Sunday night. Auburn's Danjel Purifoy and freshman Jamal Johnson were big contributors tonight as they were the top two top scorers in the game.
Purifoy had one of his best games as he led all scorers with 17 points. Johnson knocked down four three pointers as he scored a career high 14 points.
Head coach Bruce Pearl spoke about Johnson saying, "He's put alot of work in this winter, he and his father have been working in the gym shooting over and over again and it really showed tonight."
Auburn's Austin Wiley recorded another double-double as he scored 10 points and had 11 rebounds. Isaac Okoro had another productive outing scoring fourteen points and totaling three blocks.
The bench outscored the Bison 26-11 as freshmen Jaylin Williams and Babatunde Akingbola both scored two points in the final minutes of the game. Devan Cambridge led the bench points with five and Anfernee McLemore scored three.
Auburn now looks ahead to next Saturday where they will go to Starkville to face a tough Mississippi State team that will be a provide a test for the eighth-ranked Tigers. Tip-off for that game will begin at 3:30 with TV coverage on SEC Network.
