AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University and the East Alabama Medical Center along with other experts and officials are closely monitoring the coronavirus and what it could mean locally.
The University has begun working on contingency plans to manage the possible impact COVID-19 could have on university operations. University President Jay Gogue has put together a group of campus leaders and health officials to monitor the situation.
With spring break a week away Auburn is encouraging students traveling to countries being affected by the virus to take precautions.
Auburn has also made the decision to temporarily suspend all travel to China and South Korea for all students, faculty, and staff. Officials are closely monitoring the situation in Italy as well.
There are currently no known cases of coronavirus in Alabama however the University is beginning to prepare for that possibility as the CDC experts expect the number of cases in the U.S. to rise.
