AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Auburn released it’s reentry numbers for COVID-19 last week. After testing over 20,000 students, a little less than 1,000 of them were positive.
The official number of reentry tests administered to students was 21,315. The total COVID-19 cases were 859. This equals a 4 percent positivity rate. In the first two weeks of the semester, the positivity rate spiked to 24%. In a video published by the university, Med Clinic Chief, Dr. Fred Kam, explained that the increase in positive cases was due to the fact that students were more likely to get tested if they were showing symptoms once back on campus. The students who tested positive were put in quarantine to isolate those with the virus.
The university is expected to again update numbers sometime Tuesday, September 1st.
