(EETV) Auburn, Ala. - The 27th annual Beat Bama Food Drive has officially started.
Auburn University and the Food Bank of East Alabama has united students, faculty, alumni, and community members to help fight hunger and hunger by challenging the University of Alabama and the West Alabama food bank.
Every year this competition takes place to see who can collect more non-perishable food to help those in need.
The competition has raised over 6 million pounds of food for the people in these communities without enough to eat since the start in 1994.
Last year Auburn collected 229,361 pounds for the Food Bank of East Alabama. Combined with Beat Auburn Beat Hunger, 508,149 pounds of food was collected.
We would love to Beat Bama on and off the field this year by bringing in non-perishable food from October 1 through November 19.
