AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Despite a slow start at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate, in Franklin, Tenn. this weekend, the Tigers finished strong on the back nine to close out the second round.
The Auburn Men’s Golf Team was able to shake the slump by going 4-under on the back nine, including 10 birdies and 29 pars, allowing them to finish the day at 3-over (287).
Leading the force for the Tigers, senior Wells Padgett tied for 30th at 1-under (71-70-141) overall. Padgett tied for team highs in birdies (3) as well as pars (13). Freshman J.M. Butler tied Padgett for 30th at 1-under (69-72-141) and matched his par total of 13. Butler also added a birdie on both front and back nine.
Senior Jovan Rebula, was a key player for the Tigers, producing a flawless 15 holes, including three back-nine birdies in his second round of the week, tying for 39th at even par (71-71-142).
Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Alex Vogelsong tied with Rebula at even par (67-75-142). Senior Andrew Kozan tied at 64th at 6-over (74-74-148).
Vanderbilt is currently leading the pack at 32 under (536), followed by Texas A&M at 22 under (546), and Georgia at 21 under (547). Auburn remains in 12th at 3-under (565).
The Tigers are wrapping up the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate today as they are paired with Missouri and South Carolina.
