Auburn, AL (EETV)- Auburn University is honoring chief justice Harold D. Melton by renaming the Student Center Friday at 2pm. The new name will be the Harold D. Melton Student Center.
Melton graduated from Auburn in 1988 with a degree in International Business and Spanish at Auburn. He was the first person of color to be elected as the student body president.
Friday's events included speeches from Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Bobby Woodard, Auburn University President, Dr. Jay Gouge, SGA President Ada Ruth Huntley, Chief Justice Harold D. Melton, and the Board of Trustees. At the end of the ceremony there will be an unvieling of the new sign above the front entrance.
