AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - In a close match that included four tiebreakers, Auburn men's tennis lost 4-3 to South Florida Sunday at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C.
In doubles, Tom Wright and Maxwell Giddens upset Chase Ferguson and Pierre Luquet from USF, by winning 6-3. Another victory in doubles for the Tigers was Tyler Stice and Jan Galka with a 6-4 win over Ivan Yatsuk and Manuel Goncalves.
In singles, Galka had two wins over Luquet, 6-4 and 6-1, before USF tied up the match to 2-2. Finn Murgett, Tad Maclean and Giddens all played in singles for the Tigers, but Giddens was the only one who made it on top. USF took the lead in the final stretch to win the match 4-3.
The Auburn Tigers now are 2-1; South Florida is also 2-1
The Tigers will return home for a match against Georgia Tech on Sunday, January 31, at 1 p.m. CT. All home tennis matches are at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Fans wearing face masks are welcome to attend and cheer on the Auburn Tigers.
