MOBILE, Ala. (EETV) For the first time since October 2020, former Auburn linebacker K.J. Britt strapped on his pads and took to the football field to compete in game action; however, this time he did not step out of the tunnel and into Jordan Hare Stadium. This time, Britt joined a group of athletes who he had never played beside before in the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Neither his return from injury nor lack of familiarity with those competing alongside him seemed to fase Britt. The NFL hopeful had himself a day.
After a quiet first quarter in which the former Tiger saw the field for just one defensive possession, Britt found a way to make an impact in the contest, getting involved more often than not. Once the Oxford, Ala. native recorded his first tackle since Auburn’s road contest in Athens, he refused to stop.
At the half, Britt posted three tackles, one pass deflection and an additional tackle for loss.
Britt’s second half was similar to his first. Despite alternating drives in which he received play time, the linebacker still managed to post an additional two tackles.
At the conclusion of the contest, Britt recorded five tackles, one pass deflection and a lone tackle for loss; however, the efforts of the Auburn alumnus were not suffecient enough to aid his team — the American — in it's 27-24 defeat at the hands od the opposing National team.
Britt’s final on-field appearance in an Auburn uniform will come at the team’s pro day; from there, he will begin the process of mentally preparing for the NFL Draft, where he hopes to hear his name called. The draft begins the evening of Thursday, April 29 and will end on Saturday, May 1. The multi-day event will be viewable on NFL Network.
