AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The No. 1 Auburn equestrian team defeated its rival No. 3 Georgia with a 12-3 victory on Saturday at the Auburn University Equestrian Center.
The victory extended Auburn’s current win streak to 39 straight meets and 5-0 on the season. In addition, the win is the team's eighth consecutive over Georgia.
At the conclusion of the meet, the team honored three members of its senior class: Deanna Green, Ericka Koscinski and Taylor St. Jacques. Both Green and St. Jacques are defending NCEA and SEC Riders of the Year in their respective events, while Koscinski will graduate with multiple academic honors.
"These three are just amazing and it’s been special watching them develop into leaders," head coach Greg Williams said. "They've all stepped into roles of leadership throughout their time here, and they've become the people that the rest of the team goes to. We're so proud of them."
For the third time this season, Auburn swept the MOP honors. Freshman Isabella Tesmer picked up the first MOP of her career in Reining, while senior Taylor Searles was awarded in Horsemanship. Emma Kurtz and McKayla Langmeier, both juniors, won MOPs in Fences and Flat.
Auburn will host a pair of Jumping Seat only meets next Saturday, March 6. The Tigers will welcome Lynchburg and Sweet Briar to the Auburn University Equestrian Center with the first of the tri-meet starting a 9 a.m. CT.
