AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Senior defender Sarah Houchin was announced Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week honorable mention on Tuesday.
This is the senior captains second time being honored by Top Drawer this season. She also has been named SEC Defensive Player of the Week and Second Team All-SEC in the fall.
“We are thrilled to see Sarah recognized by Top Drawer,” head coach Karen Hoppa said. “She has been playing at another level this spring, and that was evident in the Louisville game when she led our defense to only giving up two shots on goal on the road. In addition, she contributed massively to the offensive side by scoring the game-winning goal in a high-pressure situation of a PK in overtime.”
She led the Lady Tigers in their fourth shutout this spring and scored the game-winning goal during a penalty kick in the 107th minute.
Houchin has only conceded one goal in 487 minutes of play since February. She continues to start in every game since 2017 and leads Auburn with 1,459 minutes played this season.
The Lady Tigers come to the end of the season with a game against Alabama on Saturday, Mar. 27 at 2 p.m. CT.
