Birmingham, AL (EETV)- The state of Alabama was hit with another severe weather outbreak which saw multiple tornadoes reported in the Birmingham area and surrounding communities including Calhoun County and Wilkerson County.
Around 1pm an extremely dangerous tornado went through the Birmingham suburbs of Helena and Pelham and left extensive damage throughout both communities.
Another tornado came through the Trussville area around 5pm that was reportedly left 14,000 without power in the Birminham metro area.
A total of eight tornadoes touched down in the state of Alabama leaving five people dead and almost 20,000 people without power.
Governor Kay Ivey shared her sympathy for those who were affected by storms in a tweet saying, "I continue to pray for the families of the victims, folks that were injured & everyone impacted by the violent storms. We will be there for our fellow Alabamians as they work to recover from this devastation."
