AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Auburn track and field athletes Dante Brown and Dontavious Hill both earned their first weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference after an excellent start to the 2021 outdoor season.
Brown, a junior sprinter, ran his personal best in the men’s 100m dash at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn this past weekend. His time of 10.5 is currently the nation's top outdoor 100m time this season. He shares the honor of SEC Co-Runner of the Week with James Smith, Jr. of Texas A&M.
Hill, a junior high jumper, earned SEC Co-Field Athlete of the week alongside LSU’s Jake Norris. On his first attempt, he lept a personal-best of 2.21m/7-3, claiming the nation's top mark in this event this season.
This weekend marked many firsts for the Tigers. Brown is the first Auburn men’s sprinter to win an outdoor weekly honor since Odean Skeen in 2017. Hill is the first high jumper for the Tigers since Donald Thomas in 2007 to earn a Southeastern Conference weekly honor.
Auburn is set to continue their season March 25-26 at the Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla.
