AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The verdict has been reached in the trial of ex-policeman Derek Chauvin, who murdered George Floyd in May of 2020.
Chauvin was found to be guilty on all charges, second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. The maximum sentence for second-degree unintentional murder is 40 years in prison. The maximum sentence for third degree murder is 25 years in prison. The maximum sentence for second-degree manslaughter is 10 years in prison and/or $20,000. Chauvin's bail was revoked by the prosecution and in eight weeks he will be sentenced.
