AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) Auburn's Sarah Houchin was named CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-District on Thursday afternoon, making the center back the sixth CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree for the Tigers since 2014.
The senior captain was named Auburn's Most Valuable Defensive Player for the second year in a row. She led an Auburn defense that gave up only 15 goals on the season, tying the program's record for a single season.
Not only does Houchin excel on the field, but she does so off the field as well. In the spring, she graduated with an exercise science degree while maintaining a 3.78 cumulative GPA. In all four years at Auburn, she has been a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll along with a three-time member of both the Dean's List and AD Honor Roll.
Only July 5, the first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees for Division I women's soccer will be released.
