Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Every student, staff, and faculty member of Auburn University knows the meaning of the term “Tiger Card”, but for many that definition may soon be changing. As of July 6th many summer semester students were given the opportunity to visit the Tiger Card Office located in Foy Hall between the hours of 7:45 am and 4:30 pm to obtain a brand new Tiger Card.
For many years Auburn students have used their Tiger Cards to be able to purchase food items off their meal plans in Auburn’s many dining halls and swipe their way into the many University owned buildings throughout campus. So what would change with these new Tiger Cards? Well, the new Tiger Cards would utilize contactless technology. With the University’s newly installed card readers, students will be able to experience more convenience in purchasing items and gaining access into buildings by only being required to place their new Tiger Card within an inch of the center of the card reader instead of swiping it.
New incoming fall 2021 students will be able to pick up their very own brand new Tiger Card during their in-person orientation. For returning students, the new and improved Tiger Card will come at no additional cost unless the student has lost their old Tiger Card. On-campus returning students for the fall 2021 semester should visit the Tiger Card Office on or one business day before their move-in date back on campus to receive their new card while off-campus students will begin receiving their new cards one week before classes start.
