AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn soccer continues to rack up honors as sophomore midfielder Hannah Waesch and junior forward Sydney Richards have been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer following wins against UAB and Chattanooga. Waesch was named to the Team of the Week while Richards was an honorable mention honoree.
This is the third week in a row an Auburn player has been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer. Auburn’s strong 5-0 start to the season has earned multiple players Top Drawer Soccer honors, including two for sophomore Anna Haddock.
Waesch continues to dominate on the pitch for the Tigers, playing all but 12 minutes in Auburn’s wins over UAB and Chattanooga.
Waesch is a pivotal piece in both the Tiger offense and defense, linking the team together. She helped the defense hold Chattanooga shot-less in Sunday’s contest, as the team earned their first shutout of the season.
Richards scored for the first time this season with a goal against UAB last Thursday, breaking a 1-1 tie. Just over 10 minutes later, Richards scored again giving Auburn a 3-1 lead over UAB.
Richards played a huge role in Auburn’s win against Chattanooga as well, as she won a corner kick that quickly resulted in a goal from Haddock.
Waesch, Richards and the Tigers are gearing up for two home games this week, starting this Thursday with a matchup against Alabama A&M at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Auburn will then play No. 1 Florida State Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
