Rosenthall named SEC Defensive Player of the Week for second consecutive week

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Senior libero Bella Rosenthall earned her second straight SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor after a strong weekend performance ahead of SEC play.

Rosenthall's efforts helped lead the Tigers, now 8-1, to two more wins in the Auburn Arena during their final nonconference tournament.

The prior week marked the first time Rosenthall earned the award in her career; this week marks the second. She is the first player in program history to be named SEC Defensive Player of the Week consecutively. The last time an Auburn player was given the title multiple times in a season dates all the way back to 2012.

Over the the three-match weekend, Rosenthall contributed 70 digs, 19 assists and four service aces while averaging 5.83 digs per set.

Against Nicholls, Rosenthall set a new career high with 31 digs, tying for eighth most in program history. At the end of the weekend, Rosenthall earned the Auburn Invitational All-Tournament Team distinction.

Rosenthall leads the SEC with her 5.59 digs per set average, ranking seventh nationally. She is second overall in the SEC with her 179 total digs.

Program-wise, Rosenthall is 105 digs short of reaching 1,000 career digs, which would make her only the 15th player in program history to reach the milestone.
