AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – The No.10 Auburn Tigers’ undefeated season has come to an end after facing the No.1 Florida State Seminoles at Auburn Soccer Complex on Sunday. The ending score was 2-1, eliminating the Tigers’ nation-leading winning streak and furthering the Seminoles’ undefeated season.
The Florida State Seminoles earned their lead quickly, scoring a goal in the first 29 seconds of the game. Doubling their advantage, the number one team scored again in the 37th minute, the two scores becoming the most goals Auburn has allowed in the past 15 games.
The Seminoles maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the first half, beginning halftime with a 2-0 lead. In the second half, the Tigers stepped up and added thier own goal to the scoreboard.
Before the top-ten showdown, Florida State had allowed only 10 shots their entire season. Over the course of the game on Sunday, the Tigers shot on the Seminoles eight times.
