AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – The Auburn Tigers volleyball teams earned their fifth win of the season tonight against North Alabama in the Auburn Arena, tallying their fifth straight sweep since the season began.
The night was full of records for both the program and head coach Brent Crouch. Crouch recorded his 100th career coaching victory while the Tigers' 5-0 record marks the program's best start since 2012. Additionally, the last time Auburn won five straight sweeps dates all the way back to 1974.
"Well, I didn't know about my own record, but obviously, I'm proud of that," said Crouch. "It's exciting, but on the other hand, let's get to the next game.
"The start to the season has been nice. We haven't dropped a set yet, which is great."
Offensively, seniors Val Green and Tatum Shipes helped lead the Tigers in their sweep. Green played her best offensive match of the year, tallying 12 kills and an ace on a .375 hitting percentage. Shipes recorded six kills off a mere seven swings, efficiently hitting a .857 percentage.
SEC Offensive Player of the Week Rebekah Rath added her own seven kills to the Tigers' total on the night while Liz Reich and Elif Yavus earned eight and six, respectively.
Setter Jackie Barret handed out 30 assists while tallying eight digs, an ace and four blocks, a season high for her.
On the defense, Bella Rosenthall led the charge, recording 25 digs.
The Tigers will look to continue their unbeaten streak when they take on Santa Clara at 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday in the Auburn Arena.
