AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Brooke Berdan, a junior on the Auburn soccer team, was listed to the 2021 Southeastern Conference Women's Soccer Community Service Team on Wednesday.
This team is sponsored by the SEC, and is composed of athletes for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community.
Before coming to Auburn, Berdan was a member of the Colorado Rush Thunder. In this program, Berdan helped promote and teach the game of soccer to players with special needs.
In the preseason, Berdan sustained an injury that has not allowed her to play this season. Even when not playing on the field, Berdan has been working with multiple different service projects such as the United Against Hunger Food Drive and the Food Bank of East Alabama that helps support local and national food banks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Auburn University's Campus Food Pantry which provides non-perishable food items to aid Auburn students struggling with food insecurity.
Berdan also serves as a soccer representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. With this, she works to enhance the student althete experience on campus, as well as is working to create a mental health sub-committee in the program.
While participating in all of these programs, Berdan has maintained a 4.0 GPA in psychology. She is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has been named to Auburn's President's List in each of her four fall and spring semesters on campus, as well as a pair of summer semesters.
