AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Following her performance in the Tiger’s two-match series against Georiga, Liz Reich was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
The recognition was the first of Reich’s career at Auburn. It marks the first time in school history that Auburn has had multiple players receive the honor as Outside Hitter Rebekah Rath has won the award twice this season. With this week’s recognition, an Auburn player has won the award for a program-record three times in 2021
Reich helped Auburn to its fourth straight victory in Athens, Ga., the opposite hitter added 11 kills and a season-high six blocks as Auburn swept the Bulldogs to open its two-match series at Georgia. The win was Auburn's third straight sweep in Athens.
In the second match, Reich put up another strong showing offensively. The grad student ended with 11 kills on just 22 attempts, attacking with an efficient .409 clip. With her strong performance, she set a season high for kills in a conference match in the three-set loss to the Bulldogs.
Reich led the Tiger offense with 23 total kills over the two-match series, while attacking at a .347 clip. She averaged 3.83 kills per set and 4.50 points per set to pace the Tigers.
The Tigers return to Auburn Arena on Friday to host LSU. The game is set for 6 p.m. CT. and can be streamed on SEC Network+.
