AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Tuesday afternoon, Auburn's men's golf team concluded its fall season with a top-three finish at the Isleworth Collegiate.
Finishing behind Arizona State and Illinois, both nationally ranked teams, Auburn shot 862—just two-under-par.
“We played tough out there as pins were difficult to get close to,” said Nick Clinard, Tigers head coach. “The guys hung in there all day long. We are looking forward to the offseason and improving over the break. This is the time for us to work hard on our games and be ready for the spring and summer.”
Tiger returner J.M. Butler led the team's lineup. The sophomore's four-under (212) earned him a fifth place finish on the individual leaderboard.
Newcomer Brendan Valdes shot 216 in his collegiate debut, breaking even and tying for 11th place.
Auburn's other top-15 competitor Alex Vogelsong shot 217 for a one-over par finish.
Austin Coggin finished the tournament with a competition-high of 14 birdies. The junior concluded his third round performance going three-over with a 219.
Carson Bacha's 75 in the final round brought his tournament total to 222, going six-over.
Auburn averaged 71.83 strokes per hole with 54 birdies and one eagle.
The Tiger team's next competition is not until Feb. 3-5, 2022. Auburn will kick off their spring season with a trip to the Amer Ari Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
