AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Sophomore Walker Kessler earned SEC Co-Player of the week following his performances against Arkansas and Texas A&M.
The center shares the award with Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe. This comes as Kessler’s third weekly honor this season.
Kessler averaged 14.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 9.5 blocks per game at Arkansas and against Texas A&M combined. The big man recorded his second triple-double of the season and his career with 12 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 12 blocks against Texas A&M.
Kessler tallied 16 points, a career-high 19 rebounds and seven stops before fouling out in an overtime loss to the Razorbacks.
He is the only player in NCAA Division I with multiple triple-doubles on the season. Kessler became only the fifth player in SEC history to record multiple triple-doubles, the only player with more than Kessler is Shaquille O’Neal with six. Kessler accounts for two of the three total triple-doubles in Auburn history.
Kessler and the Tiger will be back in action Wednesday when they host Vanderbilt in Auburn Arena at 8 p.m CST.
