AUBURN, ALABAMA(EETV)- Auburn bats slam Syracuse, 9-0, in five innings on Sunday in the first game of a double-header. The win moves the Tigers to 14-1 on the season.
Shelby Lowe continued her absolute dominant pitching performance to start the season. Lowe came out of the gates and sat the first three batters she faced. Lowe pitched a complete game shutout and only gave up five hits.
Lowe’s ERA is an astounding 0.86 through 40 1/2 innings pitched this season. The win moves Lowes record to 7-1 on the season. In the win on Sunday, Lowe struck out 11 batters. That includes the final two batters she faced with the bases loaded.
Offensively, the Tigers had a field day collecting 11 hits in the five innings played. Sophomore Makayla Packer set the tone at the top of the order for Auburn as she went 3-for-3 at the plate scoring three runs and driving in two. Packer’s batting average on the season sits at .511 through 15 games.
In the 2021 season, the Tigers hit a total of 22 home runs in the 51 games last season. Through 15 games this season the Tigers have hit 21 home runs. The Tigers hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning. Both balls flew over the left-centerfield wall.
Senior Aspyn Godwin and Freshman Bri Ellis were responsible for those two home run shots in what was an eight-run third inning for Auburn.
The Tigers home streak this season moves to nine games.
Auburn is scheduled to take on the ULM Warhawks for the second game of its Sunday double-header slate. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. CST.
