AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Sophomore pitcher Shelby Lowe was named to the Preseason All-SEC team by the league office on Monday. Lowe is one of only three sophomores on the list.
Lowe earned this honor following her strong freshman campaign where she struck out 179 batters and posted a 1.49 ERA over 30 appearances. 26 of those appearances were starts. The Carrollton, Alabama native was just the fifth freshman to post at least 100 strikeouts in school history.
Lowe was the first freshman to earn All-SEC honors in Auburn history. Not only did Lowe earn that honor last season, she also was named to the All-Freshman SEC team and NFCA All-Southeast Region Third Team accolades.
Lowe and the Tigers open their season in the Tiger Invitational, which is hosted by Auburn at Jane B. Moore Field. Auburn's first matchup in that tournament is on Friday, Feb. 11 against Seton Hall with first pitch set for 2:30 PM CST.
