AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee was recognized by the league office on Tuesday as the SEC Freshman of the week for her performance against Alabama last Friday.
This is the first time that Lee has earned the honor and it comes after her all-around debut against the Crimson Tide, where she won the title with a 39.700. That score is the third highest all-around total in program history and second highest mark in the conference this season.
The St. Paul, Minnesota native made her college debut on vault in the 197.525- 197.125 win over the Crimson Tide. The gold medalist recorded a 9.925 on the bars and the floor, while she also recorded a meet high 9.975 on the beam. The only event the Olympian didn’t score a 9.9 on was vault in which she set a career-high 9.875.
Lee and Auburn travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to take on LSU on Saturday, Feb. 5 for another top-10 matchup for Auburn gymnastics.
