AUBURN, ALABAMA (EETV)- Aicha Coulibaly was named to the All-SEC Second Team when the league office announced the annual women's basketball awards on Tuesday. Coulibaly was the only Auburn player on any of the award lists.
The sophomore led Auburn in scoring this season with 17.3 points per game. The next closest scorer on the Tigers was Honesty Scott-Grayson with 13 points per game. Coulibaly ranked fifth in the SEC in scoring this season. The sophomore scored 20 plus points nine times this season with a season high 27 against Charleston Southern on Nov. 26.
The Mali native averaged 7.8 rebounds per game. Along the way she posted five double-doubles this season. She led that category for the Tigers as well.
In SEC play this season, Coulibaly averaged 16.7 points per game and 7.3 rebounds. Coulibaly is the 30th different Auburn player to earn selection to the coaches’ All-SEC team, dating back to 1981. Auburn has had at least one selection to the All-SEC team each of the last four seasons and five of the last six.
Auburn will be the 14-seed in the SEC Tournament and will take on 11-seed Alabama on Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. CST in Nashville, Tennessee.
