AUBURN, Alabama (EETV) - Redshirt Freshman quarterback Dematrius Davis is entering the transfer portal, he announced on his Twitter on Wednesday.
This comes after the Tigers picked up two quarterbacks this off-season in the transfer portal: Sophomore Zach Calzada (Texas A&M) and redshirt Freshman Robby Ashford (Oregon). While also having Junior TJ Finley and Dematrius Davis on roster, and signing four-star Holden Geriner, brought the Tigers quarterback room to five potential starters.
Davis was a four-star recruit from the class of 2021, and picked Auburn over LSU, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech.
Davis never saw time on the field during his time on the Plains, but at North Shore High School he lit it up. He racked up 10,536 passing yards, 3,047 rushing yards, 171 total touchdowns and two state titles in Texas. He also posted a 51-3 record.
The Tigers look to potentially find their starter during their annual A-Day on April 9 at 1:00 p.m. CST at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
