Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler Named to All-American Teams

AUBURN, ALABAMA (EETV) - Freshman Jabari Smith earned second team All-American honors and Sophomore Walker Kessler earned third team honors, the Associated Press announced on Tuesday morning.

Smith was a five-star recruit in the 2022 class and Auburn's highest ranked recruit of all time. This season, he led Auburn in scoring with 17.1 points per game, while also totaling seven rebounds per game and shooting 42.8% from the three, the highest among the starting five. His performances this season earned him the SEC Freshman of the Year along with being First Team All-SEC.

Kessler was a five-star transfer from North Carolina. This year, he led the team in blocks with 4.5 blocks per game, which was good for second in the nation. He also averaged 11.7 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. The center was just named as a finalist for the Naismith Trophy Men's Defensive Player of the Year.

Kessler was First Team All-SEC and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year for his performances this past season. The sophomore is also the only player in Division I to record two triple-doubles this season.

Auburn looks to take on Jacksonville State in the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Greenville, SC at 11:40 a.m. CST and will be broadcasted on TruTV.
