AUBURN, Alabama (EETV) - The No. 19 Auburn Tigers split their home series against the South Carolina Gamecocks following an 11-2 win in 5 innings on Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field. The rubber match on Monday will decide the series. With this win, Auburn's record extends to 25-2.
Sophomore Shelby Lowe struggled early giving up a season-high three walks before getting replaced by Junior KK Dismukes in the second inning. Dismukes would pitch the last three innings getting a strikeout and collecting her first SEC win as a pitcher.
Going into the third inning, the teams were neck-and-neck at 1-1. Then following a run after an error in the third to give the Gamecocks the lead, Auburn erupted with a 4-run third inning and a 6-run fourth inning to put away the Gamecocks.
Freshman Jessie Blaine had herself a game hitting a home run, her fifth of the season, and getting 4 RBIs, helping Makayla Packer and Carlee McCondichie get home.
Freshman Bri Ellis added another home run to her total this season, hitting one well over the fence in the third inning. Ellis now has nine home runs this season. She was also intentionally walked in the fourth, but after Sophomore Denver Bryant hit her fifth homer of the season, she was able to score another run.
The Tigers look to close out the series against the Gamecocks on Monday at 6:00 p.m. CST at Jane B. Moore Field, the game will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.
