AUBURN, Alabama. (EETV) - Sunisa Lee earned SEC Freshman of the Week from the SEC offices on Tuesday. The award comes is her fourth of the year, two Gymnasts of the Week awards and two Freshman of the Week awards.
Lee led the Tigers to a program-record score of 197.925 in a win over Kentucky in Neville Arena on Friday. The freshman won her fifth straight-around title and captured three event titles in the process.
Lee recorded her second perfect 10 of the season, it came on beam and makes her the first Auburn athlete to get perfect 10s in two separate events. Even with the perfect 10, it was her routine on bars that stole the show. Lee performed the first Nabieva in college gymnastics en route to a score of 9.975 and the bars title. Lee ended the night with a career-high 9.975 on floor.
Auburn set records in both floor and bars with Lee’s scores going towards both records.
Lee and the Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they host the No. 3 Florida Gators. The meet is set for 7 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
