Tigers Swat Away Yellow Jackets at Home

AUBURN, ALABAMA (EETV) - Auburn Baseball had a huge second inning, bolstering seven runs, to help take down the Alabama State Yellow Jackets 13-7 on Tuesday.

After taking the 7-1 lead going into the third inning, the Yellow Jackets wouldn't stop buzzing, getting it as close as 9-6 before the Tigers ran away in the bottom of the sixth.

Following his outstanding week that won him national player of the week honors, senior Sonny DiChiara scored three runs on four at-bats, one of the runs coming off of a home run in the seventh inning, which is his fourth of the season so far. He also leads the team in runs with 14.

"Tigers win," Butch Thompson said. "In all our phases there were some challenges, but there were some bright spots, too. We got some guys in to pitch that hadn't pitched and got to see them. We got to do some of those evaluations. Cam Hill was my highlight tonight and Cole Foster.

Hill (So.) also put up three runs on four at-bats, and Foster (So.) holstered four RBIs in Tuesday's win.

Graduate student Tyler Drabick captured his first win as a Tiger, only allowing one hit against five strikeouts in two innings.

The Tigers will play the UAB Blazers on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Plainsman Park, the game will be broadcasted on SEC Network+. Junior RHP Mason Barnett will start on the mound.
