AUBURN, ALABAMA. (EETV) - For the fourth straight year, Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers have landed a five-star basketball recruit.
Five-star C Yohan Traore committed to Auburn on Thursday night following a de-commitment from LSU after the Will Wade firing.
Traore is considered the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2022 class and the No. 4 center by the 247Sports Composite. The big man will be Auburn’s 2nd best signing in history once he does sign.
The center joins four-star small forward Chance Westry and three-star point guard Tre Donaldson.
Traore’s role is still up in the air and dependent on what Sophmore center Walker Kessler decided to do. Kessler is coming off a huge season with the Tigers and is weighing all of his options which include declaring for the NBA draft or coming back for another season with the Tigers.
Whatever Kessler decides to do, the Auburn offseason for basketball has just begun with Pearl and co. eyeing both players in the portal and high school prospects alike.
The first thing Traore did after announcing his commitment was jump into an Auburn twitter space and talked to members of Auburn’s rabid fan base. In the space, Traore mentioned the idea of bringing five-star and former LSU commit Julian Phillips with him to the plains.
One thing is for certain and that is the college basketball’s free agency period has only just begun and the Tigers are off to a hot start.
