Roger McCreary taken 35th by the Tennessee Titans in the NFL Draft

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Being called up to the pros is a very unique event for college athletes, and only 1.6 percent of college football players make it. Mobile native and Auburn Tiger Roger McCreary will have the opportunity to share in that special moment in tonight's 87th annual NFL draft.

Coming out of high school Roger McCreary was a versatile cornerback with tons of potential. In just his senior season, McCreary had eight interceptions and more than 100 tackles and was also a threat on the offensive side of the ball, accumulating over 2,100 all-purpose yards. 

After a stellar high school career, McCreary chose to take his talents to Auburn and signed with the Tigers in 2018, During his freshman season, McCreary saw his first collegiate game experience against Alabama State and also made an appearance against Arkansas where he recorded two tackles. 

McCreary’s role increased more during his sophomore season where he totaled 36 tackles and 11 pass break-ups on the season. Some of his highlight performances came in the game against Arkansas where he recorded a team-high five tackles and also had two pass break-ups. Another standout performance came in his first career start versus LSU, where he made a career-high ten tackles and an interception. 

Going into his Junior season, McCreary was now a veteran and started all ten games. On the season, roger was able to pick up 45 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, nine pass breakups, three interceptions, and one forced fumble. 

McCreary returned his senior season with 49 tackles (two for a loss), one sack, two interceptions, 16 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. In his career, McCreary totaled 135 tackles ( 111 as solos), six interceptions, and 38 pass breakups.  McCreary was also named to Reese’s Senior Bowl All-American team as well as PFF’s College all-SEC first team. 

The Tennessee Titans have selected Roger McCreary with the 35th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. McCreary will look to make an immediate impact in the Titans' secondary.
