AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - No. 14 Florida proved to be no match for the Auburn Tigers sweeping the Tigers 3-0 (23-25, 18-25, 15-25) to give the Tigers their third loss of the year.
Florida (16-4, 8-2 SEC) controlled the game in kills and assists controlling the margin by 19 and 15, respectively. Auburn (18-3, 7-3 SEC) had a crowd of over 1600 behind them and kept the first set close.
The first set finished within two points and included 17 ties and five lead changes. The freshman hitters continued to lead the team in kills with Madison Scheer contributing five kills and Akasha Anderson with four in the first set.
The Gators went on a two-point streak, the longest of the set, to come away with the win in the set. After losing the first set, Auburn seemed to lose the wind in their sails dropping the next two.
Both offenses slowed down in the second and third set and shared a handful of blocks. Kendal Kemp finished with four blocks on the day moving her career total to 117 and submitting herself at number two in blocks for a single season in Auburn history.
Despite slowing the Florida offense down, 10 errors were too many for the Tigers to overcome and dropped set number two.
In the third set, Auburn took better care of the ball with only four errors but the offense couldn't keep up with the Gators and lost the third set by 10.
Up next, the Tigers travel to Lexington, Kentucky for a weekend series against the Wildcats on Saturday and Sunday.
