AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Eagle Eye's Jakai Spikes breaks down proposed Amendment 5 to the Alabama State Constitution on the ballot this midterm election.
The fifth proposed amendment is a request from the Alabama Law Institute to change outdated language. The change would remove terminology that give probate officers power over “orphans’ business” considered by the Alabama Law Institute to be outdated in how juvenile legal matters are handled.
If this amendment is passed, probate judges would still have to power to preside over adoptions and guardianship matters.
