AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) -SGA Elections 2023: Miss Auburn Candidate: Jillian Daugherty
Daugherty's platform transcript: "Hey Y’all! My name is Jillian Daugherty- I am from a small town called “Helena, Alabama”. My platform is based on my favorite line of the creed, “I believe in education which gives me the
knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully”. Like many of us, I
originally chose Auburn because I wanted to be put in an environment that would challenge me
and prepare me for whatever lies ahead after my 4 years here. Throughout my time here at Auburn, I realized no one talks about the elephant in the room: our education and the pressures and stress that we face because of it.
Through my platform I hope to teach students three things: academic balance- how to take a step back from school, how to be proactive inside and outside the classroom, and most importantly to connect and learn from those around you. My dad always says “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” I know that I realistically cannot make Organic Chemistry easier to comprehend; but together, we can and will educate and equip the student body to find healthy ways to approach their student-life and eliminate current academic stressors so we can fully enjoy the things that make Auburn University so special to each of us!
