AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Coming off of a runner-up finish last year, the Auburn Tigers equestrian team will begin the 2023-24 season holding the No. 2 ranking.
The defending SEC champions are behind only SMU, who won the national championship over Auburn last season. TCU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State round out the top 5 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings.
The Tigers are returning seven NCEA All-Americans from last season's team and are poised for another successful year. Since 2013, the Tigers have won four national titles (2013, 2016, 2018 and 2019) and five SEC championships (2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022).
“We’re excited about the talent we have returning as well as the talent in our freshman class,” head coach Jessica Braswell said. “Every team is 0-0 right now and we are going to have to earn our ranking in the arena all season. I’m excited to get started with a top 10 match up this weekend in front of our home crowd.”
This is Braswell's first season as head coach of the Tigers. Former head coach, Greg Williams retired after the 2023 season and stepped into his new role as head coach emeritus.
Braswell's group will be tested early with a matchup against No. 9 UC Davis at the Auburn University Equestrian Center on Saturday, September 23. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT and admission is free to the public.
