Auburn Public Relations Department Hosts Fall PR Speaker Series

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Auburn University Public Relations Department hosted their Fall PR Speakers Series this past Friday September 29th in the Melton Student Center, where a panel of recent graduates shared their knowledge of the industry to a crowd of eager students.

The panelists this year consisted of Alyssa Turner from the Office of Governor Kay Ivey, Sarah Benton from BRAVE PR, Matheson Carroll from Delta's Window Seat, Carter Brown from PLAE and Julie Anne Jacobs from the Country Music Association.

Moderating the event was Eleanor Hawkins, a Communications Strategist and Writer for Axios as well as a member of the Auburn University Public Relations Advisory Council, who opened up the floor to attendees to ask questions ranging from "What does a typical day look like?" to "What is a red flag in an interview?" Those in attendance were able to gain valuable knowledge from the speakers within the 50 minute panel before taking a brief intermission and coming back to engage in a networking session with the guests.

Student of any year or major were able to attend the event and gain from the insight the panelists had to give. One student, Esther Kim who is a student majoring in Public Relations in addition to being a member of the Oaks Agency, Auburn's student-run public relations agency said, "The event was really helpful. To hear from people who have already graduated and doing this as a career, it was great to get their advice. The session after where we got to talk with the speakers helped me to build my own connections as well."

Overall, the event had a large turnout with almost every seat filled marking it as a huge success to the Public Relations Advisory Council.
