Scheer Dominance: Madison Scheer Earns SEC Player of Week

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – After her performances in Auburn volleyball’s matches on the road vs Florida and South Carolina this past week, Madison Scheer was named SEC player of the week and offensive player of the week.

Friday, on the road vs the then No. 9 Florida Gators, Scheer recorded 14 more kills, another block, and a hit percentage of .667. Scheer recorded 14.5 points in each game, for a total of twenty-nine points on the week in a game the Tigers won in straight sets

Then, on Sunday, Scheer registered her most impressive performance of the season in Columbia vs the South Carolina Gamecocks. The sophomore hitter recorded a season-high 19 kills, as well as two blocks and a dig, recording 20 total points for yet another season-high mark.

Scheer’s performance would prove vital, as Auburn won the match 3-2, with each set being decided by three points or less. Scheer would then put an exclamation point on her standout performance, recording the final kill in the fifth set to register Auburn’s 15th point and win both the set and match for the Tigers.

Scheer has been an offensive force for the Tigers this season, and is second in both points and kills for Auburn Volleyball this season, trailing only fellow Sophomore Akasha Anderson in each category. She is a major reason why Auburn volleyball is currently experiencing program-first events everywhere you look this season, including the first ranked matchup ever in Neville Area and the Tigers’ first-ever top-25 ranking.

Scheer will look to keep up her impressive form into this week, as the No. 22 Tigers will travel to Knoxville on Friday to take on the No. 10 Tennessee Volunteers in a ranked matchup
