AUBURN, Ale. (EETV) - This weekend, Auburn residents and tourists alike can participate in a haunted walking tour of the downtown area. Folklorist and actor Brandon Stoker, and historian and local author John-Mark Poe will be hosting this event.
This haunted tour will consist of a walk through downtown Auburn while the paranormal guides recount eye-witness reports of local residents. Auburn has a rich history of spooky tales, so there is much excitement.
One such tale expected to be discussed during the tour is that of Sydney Grimlett, the ghost of a Confederate soldier. After being wounded, Sydney died in the University Chapel, which served as a hospital at the time. He was originally thought to haunt the Chapel. However, firsthand accounts indicate that he has haunted the Telfair Peet Theatre since the 70s.
The haunted tour will take place this Friday and Saturday, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m. This event requires no admission fee, nor any reservation. The tour group meets between the eagle statues at Toomer's Corner.
