AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – For the first time in program history, Auburn Volleyball will participate in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons. This comes in head coach Brent Couch’s fourth season at the helm.
"It's a big deal,” Crouch said after Selection Sunday. “We talked at the beginning of the year about can we do it again. Mostly what I meant by that was can we play at the same level or better? Can we improve? And can we make it to the NCAA Tournament again? And we've done that.”
The No. 7 seed Tigers will face off against Western Michigan on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 3 p.m. CT in round one of the Louisville Regional.
Should the Tigers emerge victorious against Western Michigan they will play the winner of No. 2 Louisville and Wright State on Friday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. CT. Louisville will have home-court advantage with the Cardinals hosting the regional.
“We've really started to peak,” said outside hitter Madison Scheer. “I think we're really excited about what we can do this week. It's awesome. It's so cool and I'm honored to be a part of it."
This is the third tournament berth for Auburn all-time. Prior to last season, the Tigers participated in the 2010 tournament where Auburn knocked off Missouri State, 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 27-25), before falling to No. 3 Nebraska in Lincoln.
