AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) — Former Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford has just announced today on social media that he will be a South Carolina Gamecock for the upcoming 2024 season.
Ashford will likely be the successor to Spencer Rattler, who led the Gamecocks to a 5-7 record last season. He must compete against LaNorris Sellers, Luke Doty, and others to solidify that role.
Ashford will not play against his former Tigers this upcoming season, but will still have notable games to play, such as Alabama in Bryant-Denny, where he scored three total touchdowns in 2022.
Ashford split time with Payton Thorne last season, where they both led the Tigers to a 6-7 record, while also leading them to a 5-7 record in 2022 after taking over TJ Finley’s starting quarterback position earlier in the season.
Ashford finishes his time at Auburn with 1,758 passing yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions during his two seasons on the plains. The mobile QB also added 927 yards on the ground with 12 rushing touchdowns.
