119 veterinary students attended the white coat ceremony this weekend

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - A White Coat Ceremony is more than just a tradition; it is a pivotal moment in the journey of every aspiring veterinarian.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - A White Coat Ceremony is more than just a tradition; it is a pivotal moment in the journey of every aspiring veterinarian.

119 of Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine students walked across the stage to accept their white coats this weekend.

For many students, this ceremony culminated years of hard work and dedication.

From late-night study sessions to hands-on experience in clinics, they have prepared themselves for the challenges and rewards of this practice.

As the ceremony unfolded, proud families, faculty, and friends looked on, applauding each student as they received their coat.

Auburn's Veterinary Medicine Program takes great pride in its students.

Dr. Calvin M. Johnson, DVM, Ph.D., DACVP, and the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, explained what distinguishes Auburn's program from others.

"I think we do a really good job at preparing students to practice veterinary medicine soon after they graduate. They get a well-rounded education that focuses on all species and does not focus on any particular one species," said Johnson.

Veterinary students leave Auburn with an understanding that positions them to be able to pursue any option that comes their way.

Now that these accomplished individuals have received their white coats as a symbol of entry into the profession, they must remember that it is much more than a physical coat.

Dr. Johnson calls it a "recommitment to a career that involves a high level of compassion in terms of helping people through animals."

As these students continue their journey through education and practice, they carry their patients' trust and the influence of future veterinarians.

Congratulations to the College of Veterinary Medicine's 2025 White Coat receivers, War Eagle!
